Dreams in Black & White

Dream By Keith – Normally i don’t dream in colour, but I have a few times… does it mean anything if your dream is in colour?

Reply By Sowelu - Hey Keith! Actually… try this on for size We all dream in color but when we recall our dreams, we don’t retain that level of clarity. Our conscious mind has ”fit” the dream imagery into what it can logically understand.

Unfortunately for many, that means that color is reduced to black and white… and the theory is that this is because we live in a dualistic world, and we tend to “see” (perceive most things) things through a filter of duality, our very minds are dualistic… it’s either “this or that”, black or white, good or bad, right or wrong, etc.

Of course, perhaps we DON’T all dream in color. Perhaps many dreams literally ARE in black and white. Same concept, I think. Except it would go a little deeper… even at a subconscious level, we interpret reality in limited terms, and it’s reflected in our inability to perceive the diversity and fullness that color expresses.

Or… look at it from the light spectrum perspective. Humans have the ability to perceive only a portion of the light spectrum, not all of it. Yet we DO know that there are more colors than we can see with our physical eyes. Well… take that inward and we might deduce that our subconscious mind can only perceive even less “light” than actually exists. And… when we dream “in color”, perhaps it’s a signal that we’ve expanded our awareness in a certain regard. We’ve literally begun to see “more”.

And one last idea that has come to me before; when we dream and recall in color but it’s not our norm, our UNconscious (which I link to our Spirit, guidance, etc.) has just emphasized something for us to remember, because it’s important to bring back to our waking consciousness. Just some thoughts.
